Rajasthan Lokayukta submits 32nd annual report to governor

After submission of the report, Kothari informed the governor that during his tenure, a total of 23,982 complaints till February 28 were received which is the highest ever in history of Lokayukta Institution.

Rajasthan Lokayukta Justice SS Kothari submitted the 32nd annual report to the governor Kalyan Singh on Tuesday. Kothari’s current term is getting completed on March 25. After submission of the report, Kothari informed the governor that during his tenure, a total of 23,982 complaints till February 28 were received which is the highest ever in history of Lokayukta Institution. Out of the total complaints, 23,754 complaints were resolved. During his tenure, apart from complaints of common person, he was the one who ordered inquiry into the irregularities in the mining allotment process was also conducted. 

He informed that till April 1, 2017, 4,312 complaints were pending and during this year, 4,807 new complaints were received. Out of the total 9,119 complaints  5,107 complaints were resolved. Its noteworthy that maximum 885 complaints have been received against the revenue department followed by the urban development/local self government (LSG) department against which 860 complaints were against. 814 complaints were filed against police department while 755 were against rural development and panchayati raj.

However, during the overall tenure of Kothari, maximum 4,142 complaints till February 28 were registered against urban development /LSG department while 3,928 were against revenue department. 3820 complaints were against police department while 3066 complaints were against rural development and panchayati raj development.

The Lokayukta also informed that in the inquiries conducted in 185 cases regarding the irregularities in the mining allotment process, action against 32 public servants was recommended to the state government and investigation against many public servants in 80 cases in 5 districts has also been started. He informed that during the time which this report relates to, the Lokayukta recommended disciplinary action against public servants in 222 cases out of total 445 cases which were resolved out of 768 cases which were received.
