Meanwhile, the chief election commissioner of India Omprakash Rawat along with election commissioner Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa will visit the city on a two-day visit from Monday. They will be here to know about the election preparations. EVM

Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) is the machine used to record the votes polled to a particular candidate. It has name and symbol of all the candidates in fray and has a button against each name. When pressed against a particular name, it records the vote for him. The main controlling unit of this EVM is with the presiding officer.

    VVPAT

Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines are used to verify that a vote polled by a particular voter has gone to the candidate for whom the voter has pushed the button in EVM. When the voter presses button in EVM, the VVPAT machine prints a slip having the name of candidate and election symbol to which voter has voted. Its visible to the voter only for few seconds after which VVPAT machine cuts it and it drops into a box.
