Rajasthan: Life term till death to man for raping minor

The minor girl, in January 2014, was abducted and raped by the convict and a case in this regard was lodged in Hindoli police station of Bundi district on January 14, 2014.

A POCSO court in Bundi on Friday convicted a 35-year-old man to life term till natural death for raping a 16-year-old minor girl and also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. The minor girl, in January 2014, was abducted and raped by the convict and a case in this regard was lodged in Hindoli police station of Bundi district on January 14, 2014.

Special judge of POCSO court number – 2 in Bundi, Sushil Kumar Sharma held Vijay Kumar Goswami, 35, a resident of Kolipura, Mathmasalpur, district Karoli guilty of abducting and raping a 16-year-old girl under section 363, 366 and 36 of IPC and sections of POCSO and SC/ST Act and convicted him to life term till natural death, told special public prosecutor [S.P.P.] Mahendra Kumar Sharma. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict, he added.

The convict, who was familiar with the victim, on January 12, 2014, tempted the 16-year-old girl of Meena community and abducted her and left her at her home after raping her at his place, the S.P.P. said. A case in this connection was lodged in Hindoli police station on January 14, 2014, under sections of IPC, POCSO and SC/ST Act, he added.

The POCSO court judge, Sushil Kumar Sharma held Vijay Kumar Goswami guilty of abduction and rape and convicted him life term till natural death, S.P.P. Mahendra Kumar Sharma said. A total of 10 witnesses and 17 documents were presented before the court during the trial of the case, he further said.
