Traffic is back to normal in Kishanpol bazaar with the road which was under construction having been opened to the commuters after completion of work.

This has made both the shopkeepers and customers happy as they can now come to the market during the festive season.

Currently, both lanes of this road have been opened for traffic and the electricity poles have also been installed along the median of the road. The shopkeepers will now be able to decorate the market and street with Diwali lighting, an annual ritual. In fact, the work to decorate these electricity poles has already started and soon the market will be lit up with festive lights.

The road work at Kishanpol was nearing completion when the shopkeepers had met the officials of Smart City Limited, Jaipur, a few weeks back. Just about a week back, the shops were vacant and there was no sign of any preparation for the Diwali festival.

Half of the 7-metre road was closed due to construction work while the traffic on the remaining side was crawling on daily basis. The road had remained closed for about 9 months as the Smart City works were being carried out in this market.

This had troubled the customers and shopkeepers alike and they had informed that they were closing their shops early as there were very few customers due to the road being blocked.

The entry point of the Kishanpol already stands completed and is getting a favourable response from the people and tourists coming to this market.

The trading community is now eagerly waiting for the festive season and customers have started pouring in to buy crackers, utensils, almirahs , bicycles which are very popular offerings at the Kishanpol market in the Walled City.

Under the Smart City Project, the Kishanpol Bazaar is being developed as a smart market. Inspired by the Smart City Project, Kishanpol Bazaar’s theme shall also showcase a Smart City on Diwali and the  public will get a glimpse of the smart city when the Kishanpol market decoration is completed before the Diwali which falls on  November 7.
