The committee that would oversee the state BJP’s yatra has finally been announced! It would be convened by home minister Gulab Chand Kataria.

State president Madan Lal Saini has constituted a twelve-member committee to make arrangements for Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra which was earlier known as the Suraj Gaurav Yatra. The yatra is scheduled to kick off from the famed Charbhuja Nath Temple in Rajsamand on August 4. The previous two yatra taken out by Raje were also flagged off from the same temple.

The inclusion of former state president Ashok Parnami bolsters CM Raje’s clout in the election management. Parnami shall now function as the co-convenor of the committee alongside Kataria. Parnami who completed his tenure as the party president is considered to be Raje loyalist.

Like him, Panchayati Raj minister Rajendra Rathore, PWD minister Yunus Khan, UDH minister Sri Chand Kriplani, all considered close to Raje have found place in the committee. Other heavyweights on the panel are: Social Justice minister Arun Chaturvedi and higher education minister Kiran Maheshwari.

Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena makes a surprise entry on the panel. Once disenchanted by Raje, now he has been cosying up to the chief minister.

The 40-day yatra to seek people’s mandate in the upcoming assembly elections will cover all divisions in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address a rally in Ajmer on the concluding day of the yatra. The yatra shall begin from the Udaipur division and shall conclude in the Ajmer division.
