The Rajasthan High Court has admitted a public interest litigation demanding development of basic services at the Prithviraj Nagar (PRN) area. A double bench of chief justice Rajasthan while hearing on the litigation moved by advocate Rajesh Maharshi and others observed that the services must be ensured to residents.

However, as the case related to the development of Prithviraj Nagar is already under consideration of the main bench at Jodhpur, the PIL was also transferred to the above bench. The bench is holding a hearing on the case regarding review of master development plans and related urban development issues.

“Even the regularised colonies of the area are devoid of basic facilities such as water, electricity, sanitation and school. The Jaipur Development Authority has been negligent towards these colonies while it extends these services at other colonies of the city,” said advocate Rajesh Maharsh.

Meanwhile, an indefinite demonstration being held by Prithviraj Nagar Jan Adhikar Sangharsh Samiti completed 31 days on Wednesday.

The agitation committee has been holding sit-in protest outside the JDA office at Chitrakoot. During the past month, the committee has also invoked several demonstrations across the Prithviraj Nagar and in the series, a postcard campaign is being held.

The committee members have been holding area wise visits to motivate the residents to write a postcard to Jaipur development commissioner stating their demands for basic services.

There are nearly a lakh people residing in over 800 colonies of the PRN. Representatives of the agitation committee said that the demonstration shall continue till their demands are met.
