A beating heart has always been a complex situation for doctors during the open heart surgery. In Jaipur, cardiac surgeons from different states of India and abroad got the opportunity to get trained on Cardiac Simulator machine to learn different types of surgery of the heart while the heart is in beating condition. They also learn how the patient’s heart responds during the surgical procedure. The session was the main attraction at the three-day International Conference organised by the Indian Heart Rhythm Society (IHRS), with the collaboration of the American Heart Rhythm Society and the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society.

Dr Jitendra Singh Makkar, the organising secretary of the event told that in the conference, for the first time in the country, the fellows course for cardiology students was organised, in which experts from USA gave training in electrophysiology and device implantation. With the motive to spread awareness about sudden cardiac arrest, a walkathon was also organised.

The most special session during the conference was the practice of the cardiac simulator machine, where students from India and other countries were trained to perform heart surgery and treatments in absolutely actual condition.

They got the chance to learn that how the cutting-edge techniques can be used by 3D mapping while operating the heart.  During the conference, IBHRE, which certifies the electrophysiologist across the globe, also organized a mock test, in which around 200 people participated. Dr Charles, chairman of the institute, took the test of all participants. Along with this, heart failure symposium was also organised during a session, in which experts discussed new techniques and awareness about the heart transplant. Dr Balakrishnan delivered a lecture about implanting an artificial heart in the human body.

Effective Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Device (CRT-D) was also discussed to fix the problem of heart failure cases. Experts told that implanting the CRT-D machine not only can increase the pumping capacity of the heart but also improves the symptoms which the patient observes during heart failure.
