Rajasthan: Hanumangarh rains, storm kill three of a family

The roof of a house in Pareek Colony in Hanumangarh fell due to heavy rain and storms, which resulted in the death of 3 people, including a woman and 2 kids late on Tuesday night. 

The victims were sleeping at the time of the incident and died under debris of the fallen roof. Due to lightning and storm, the neighbours were not aware of the incident until 6:30 am Wednesday morning. 

The condition of another woman, who was severly injured in the incident, is being described as critical and she was referred to the government hospital in Bikaner.

The temperature in most parts of Rajasthan came down drastically after scattered rain and storms were reported over the last 24 hours. The Met Department has forecast thundershowers and rains in select districts of Rajasthan over the next couple of days. 

Family members of the deceased had complained of a 2-hour delay in arrival of 108 ambulance to the district hospital. They claimed timely medical attention could save the lives of the deceased. 

On receiving the information, district collector Dinesh Chandra Jain and SP Yadram Fansal reached the spot and assured the family members of financial support. 

Later, the collector, announced compensation of Rs1,60,000 from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs1,50,000 from the City Council Empowered Committee to the family of the deceased. 

Where the storm ended up killing 3 members of the family, the head of the family Balram Singh, who works as a carpenter, was saved because of it. Singh had gone to Pilibanga for work on Tuesday and could not return due to heavy rains and storm.
