Enrolment of students in government schools has increased by 17 lakh in the last two years.Though the enrolments have increased due to  government’s efforts, there has been no increase in the number of teachers. As a result, there are not enough teachers to teach students in the government schools now. Due to the increase in enrolment, teachers have opened a front against the education department to demand a new staffing pattern.

Notably, in September 2015, the Department of Education had changed the staffing pattern due to the low number of students in government schools. The education department had reduced the post of senior teachers from 6 to 3. Along with this, lecturers were given the responsibility of teaching classes 9 and 10. Similarly, subject teachers were given the responsibility to teach class 1 to 5 students.

According to teacher leaders, the Education Minister had promised to implement this staffing pattern for two years. After two years, enrolment has increased in government schools now. Due to which teachers are demanding the implementation of a new staffing pattern.

Recently, the Rajasthan Madhaymik-Prathmik Shikshak Sangh demanded for introduction of a new staffing pattern by giving a memorandum to education state minister Vasudev Devnani. Vipin Prakash Sharma, Senior Vice President of Teachers Association, said that according to the data of the Education Department, enrolment of students in government schools in last two years has increased to 17 lakhs.

Students are increasing and new class sections have been created. But due to the old staffing pattern, there are no teachers to teach the students. About one lakh vacancies of teachers are already vacant. Education Minister assured us to change the staffing pattern soon, he added.
