Former city mayor Jyoti Khandelwal was at Ramganj market on Saturday seeking traders to support Congress with their votes, as well as currency notes. Congress had recently launched a link to receive online contributions for the party’s election campaign in Rajasthan.  Khandelwal, one of the aspirants to contest from Kishanpole assembly constituency, got the fundraiser campaign among the public. “One note and all votes from family, that’s all we seek,” said Khandelwal while meeting traders at the market.

Also a general secretary at the state Congress, she was accompanied by several of the local Congress leaders as she commenced the ‘fund-raising’ campaign from Ramganj Market. Here she was welcomed by the market association president with a donation of silver coin. She said that Congress is in need of financial support from the public as the BJP gets funded by ultra-rich.

As Khandelwal was seeking support from the public, a gala event marked birthday celebrations of state Congress vice president, Rajeev Arora. The celebrations held at Geeta Mandir in Adarsh Nagar area of the city was hosted by a social organisation headed by the Congress leader and was attended by a large number of party leaders and workers. Here, he assured the gathering to work for their issues if the party trusts him with ‘responsibility’ to contest from the constituency.

Senior Congress leaders maintained their assault on BJP central leadership on the issue of Rafale.

“Rafale scam and demonetisation are the biggest scams in Indian history. A government thriving on pseudo nationalism even went to extent of defaming a navratna PSU like HAL so that its cronies can benefit,” Congress state president, Sachin Pilot commented from his social media handle.

Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot was also active on social media maintaining fire on BJP government on the Rafale deal.
