Shops and business establishments remained closed in several cities across the state as a mark of respect for late prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. There was complete bandh in several town like Nagaur, Sirohi and Sikar. Acting on a call given by the traders and business associations, shops remained closed in several cities in Nagaur district. Cities like Nagaur, Deedwana, Ladnu, Jayal, Parabtsar, Navan and Makrana bore a deserted look. Deedwana in the district of Nagaur has strong relations with RSS as this is where the organisation was founded in Rajasthan. The organisation has deep roots in the area, this being the major reason for widespread support for the bandh.

In the hill station of Mt Abu as well most traders and businessmen kept their establishments closed as a mark of respect for Vajpayee. These included business establishments near Nakki Lake, main markets and Arbuda Chauraha. Vajpayee had visited Mt Abu thrice and had close associations with several persons from the town.

Sikar too observed bandh on the call given by the trade organisations of various towns of the district. A prayer meet was also organised in which local persons took part in large numbers. Vajpayee had strong political and personal relations with Sikar. He had assumed the role of a father in the marriage of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat’s daughter that was held in Sikar. Vajpayee had addressed two huge public rallies in Sikar in the years 1989 and 1999 and both times the Congress candidate Balram Jakhar lost the elections.
