CM asks officials to adjust electricity wires and ACs obstructing new lightning system

The Choti Chaupaur has changed, a dry step-well with fountain is now at the centre of the crossroads. The new look of the Chaupar was unveiled as chief minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated several of the heritage conservation works at the Walled City on evening of Independence Day.
She also switched on the new lighting system to brighten up several markets and monuments at the Walled City. “I believe that along with development of Smart City, conservation of heritage is also essential and our government has implemented that on ground,” said Raje while addressing gathering of officials and media present on the occasion. She also inaugurated an art gallery developed along with the step well at Choti Chaupur.
The step-well and art gallery form ceiling of the underground metro station at Choti Chaupar. These new venues got inaugurated ahead of the metro station as it is still a few weeks from completion.
The chief minister was discontent with the condition of works at the art gallery and the city at large. She expressed displeasure over the barricades and traffic diversions in the city area due to ongoing projects of Smart City and Metro. She instructed the officials to complete the works and remove barricading by September end.
“She asked the officials to adjust electricity wires and air conditioner units obstructing the new lightning system and asked them to complete the ongoing projects,” said an official.
It has been for years since the traffic at Walled City area has remain diverted due to development works of Metro and Smart City. Many of these projects were earlier expected to be complete by this time and were to be inaugurated on Independence Day. However, most of them have missed the deadline and are now expected to be unveiled next month. Among those to be inaugurated, the step well needs final touches while art gallery was developed in less than two months.
Chief minister Vasundhara Raje paid reverence at the newly constructed Rojgarewar Mahadev temple during her visit to Walled City on Wednesday evening. She was accompanied with local MLA Mohan Lal Gupta. Her act of reverence though triggered objections from the Darohar Bacchao Samiti that has been protesting against demolition of the ‘old’ temple by metro authorities.
