Afraid of party workers venting their anger against senior leaders, the BJP has banned media from attending Jansunwai (public hearing) programme at the State BJP headquarters.

The reason why the media has been banned is that Jansunwai had become a big embarrassment for the party because for BJP workers it had become a platform to take senior leaders and ministers to task for not taking any action on their grievances. This is the reason why the attendance at Jansunwai has come down.

Only one minister was present on the BJP headquarters on Tuesday. Agriculture Minister Prabhu Lal Saini heard the grievances of the party workers. During this time most of the complaints were about the transfers. About 22 grievances were received in the two-hour public hearing. During the public hearing, many party workers said that no action has been taken on their complaints. Many even questioned the rationale behind holding Jansunwai when it has failed to serve the purpose. “ What is the benefit of such hearing”? One worker asked.

Addressing the media after the public hearing, Agriculture Minister said that monitoring of schemes implemented for tribals was done at the governor’s level. A separate cell has been formed at the Raj Bhavan for this. Saini said that the Congress government had bought 7.82 lakh tonnes of the crop at the support price in five years, while the BJP government has bought 21 lakh metric tonne so far.
