A secret yagya was organised at the Rajasthan BJP office in Jaipur on Saturday.

It is believed to be a 'sakti sadhna yagya' was performed for better health of the party.

The gates of the BJP office were closed for general visitors. Only those taking part in the religious ritual were allowed to enter the premises.

State BJP chief Ashok Parnami, newly-appointed organisation general secretary Chandrashekshar and state BJP general secretary Bhajan Lal were part of the yagya, that was solemnised by 10 pandits.

According to sources, the pandits were specially called from Sirohi to perform the yagya, which was performed in the main hall of the BJP office.

According to party sources, the yagya started around 11 am in the morning on Saturday.

Chandrashekshar, the RSS man who has been appointed as organisational general secretary is said to be the main person performing the yagya.

Parnami left the BJP office while the yagya was still going on. The vermillion and sandalwood paste on his forehead and saffron stole draped around his shoulders were a clear indication of the yagya.

Parnami said it was a yagya for peace (shanti ) and power (shakti) in the party.

“The yagya poojan is not unusual. We are doing it for strength and peace in the party,” said Parnami.

He, however, refused to associate it with the upcoming by elections on two parliamentary and one assembly seat.

This is not the first time that such a ritual is being performed at the BJP office.

Parnami himself had performed a ritual to set right the 'vastu' of the BJP office after he took over as party chief and had called 'ratna' (precious stones) experts to perform it.

A metallic 'kalash' with 'ratnas' in it still adorns a high ventilator in Parnami’s office.

Pandits associated with performing ‘corrective’ rituals say the timing of this yagya is interesting - it is the first Saturday of the Hindu month 'Kartik' - that is conducive for tantrik yagya.

Many BJP leaders and office bearers in Rajasthan have resorted to religious and tantrik rituals.

Even chief minister Vasundhara Raje had performed a secret puja in her official residence while facing political crisis after allegations related to Lalit Modi.
