Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018: Voting suspended temporarily in Sikar after 2 groups clash

While voting was mostly peaceful across Rajasthan, minor scuffles and skirmishes cropped up at a few places. However,  things were contained by the security forces and administration. In Sikar, a scuffle between two groups resulted in major damage to several vehicles along with stone pelting that led to suspension of polling in a booth for nearly 20 minutes. In another incident, a man from Bharatpur was attacked and injured with a knife and the police are now investigating the matter.

Two groups clashed at booth number 125 of Fatehpur town of Sikar district wherein they fought over alleged fake voting at the booth. “The cops posted at the booth tried to handle the situation, however, the men were still able to damage a few bikes and set them ablaze. The angry groups even damaged a bus parked nearby,” the police said. “All the incidents that have taken place have occurred outside polling booths. Special DG NRK Reddy said that ITBP soldiers opened fire at Mundawar in Alwar to control the situation. “The force is still deployed in areas where clashes occurred,” he added.

Meanwhile, minor incidents were also reported in other parts of the state as well. Stones were pelted at the car of a member of a social organization at Bandikui in Dausa wherein the man – Kailash saini – escaped unhurt. In Bharatpur, a retired Subedar Gopal Jatav was attacked by miscreants and eas injured using a knife. 

The man was rushed to Community Hospital in Deeg town. At Nadbai in Bharatpur, men tried to capture two booths, however, two men in the matter were arrested by the cops. In Marwar, two factions entered confrontation in  Lathi village of Pokhran assembly segment. About half a dozen people were injured, but the polling process was not affected.
