It seems that it will not be easy for the BJP, which won 9 out of 19 seats in Jaipur district in the last assembly elections, to repeat history this time. Reason being rebels in Jaipur district have spoiled the electoral equations of both the BJP and Congress. There is a triangular or multi-pronged contest in 9 out of 19 seats in the district and both the parties are facing rebels.

In 2013 Assembly polls, BJP won 16 seats while Congress and NPP got one seat each and an Independent won one seat. This time, rebels in Amber, Sanganer, Vidyadhar Nagar, Kotputli, Shahpura, Dudu, Bassi, Phulera and Viratnagar are creating trouble for BJP and Congress. There is a direct fight between Congress and BJP in Malviya Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, Hawa Mahal, Kishanpol, Civil Lines, Jhotwara, Bagru, Jamwaramgarh, Chomu and Chaksu.

Jaipur 

City’s hottest seat is seeing a triangular contest between Ashok Lahoti (BJP), Pushpendra Bhardwaj (Congress) and Ghanshyam Tiwari (Bharat Vahini Party). Tiwari is sitting MLA of Sanganer and  is contesting on his party’s banner.

Phulera

Sitting MLA and BJP’s Nirmal Kumawat, Vidyadhar Singh of Congress, Spardha Chaudhury of National Democratic Party and BJP rebel and Independent Deendayal Kumawat are in the fight.

Bassi

There is a contest between sitting MLA and Independent candidate Anju Devi Dhanka, BJP’s Kanhaiya Lal Meena and Daulat Singh Meena of Congress while Independent Laxman Meena is a Congress rebel. He was the minister in the Congress government and lost the 2013 elections.

Vidyadhar Nagar

Congress rebel Vikram Singh Shekhawat has made the contest a triangular one here. Shekhawat is giving a tuff fight to both BJP candidate and sitting MLA Narpat Singh Rajvi and Congress candidate Sitaram Agarwal. Shekhawat has contested the last election on Congress ticket.

Amber

Naveen Pilaniya, who was elected MLA on NPP ticket in 2013, is the BSP candidate now. There is a triangular contest between Pilaniya, BJP’s Satish Poonia and Prashant Sharma of Congress.

Shahpura

Assembly Deputy Speaker and MLA Rao Rajendra Singh is facing the Congress candidate Manish Yadav and Independent Alok Beniwal this time. Beniwal is Congress rebel and had lost two elections with Congress ticket.

Dudu

BJP’s Premchand Bairwa, Ritesh Bairwa of Congress and former MLA and Independent Babulal Nagar are in the fray. Nagar was the minister in the previous Ashok Gehlot government and now he is a Congress rebel.

Kotputli

There is a triangular fight between sitting MLA and Congress candidate Rajendra Singh Yadav, BJP’s Mukesh Goyal and former MLA and NDP candidate Ram Swaroop  Kasana who is Congress rebel.

Viratnagar

BJP candidate and sitting MLA Phool Chand Bhinda is facing his party rebel Kuldip Dhankhad who is  contesting as Independent. While Indraraj Gurjar is from Congress.
