In anticipation of their leader becoming the next CM, a lot of Congress supporters of both Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot came to the porch of the airport area.
Since Wednesday night, Jaipur airport has been witnessing hustle and bustle of political activities going on in the state. The Congress leaders, security agencies, media persons and airport officials were waiting the arrival of the CM hopefuls the entire Thursday evening.
In anticipation of their leader becoming the next CM, a lot of Congress supporters of both Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot came to the porch of the airport area. Due to presence of large number of people waiting for announcement of the name of CM by Congress high command, police from the local police personnel from station were also deployed at airport.
Meanwhile, the supporters of both the leaders were getting excited and were raising slogans in favour of their leaders. Earlier on Thursday morning, both Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot had left for Delhi from Jaipur airport. That time too a large number of supporters of the duo were present at the airport.
The entire day while the scene of all political activities was the residence of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, in New Delhi, speculations and rumours were afloat amongst the supporters at the Jaipur Airport regarding the new CM.
At one point of time when the police personnel had arrived at about 3 pm at the airport, it was rumoured that Gehlot had arrived. His supporters then started raising slogans in his support. However, later it turned out that Gehlot had not come.
The ping-pong of arrival or non arrival status continued till late Thursday evening. Reports of arrival of Gehlot and Pilot on Thursday evening by Air India flight too turned out to be rumours. By that time the excitement of the workers at the airport had waned down and all attention shifted to PCC office.
However, the security personnel remained posted at the airport porch since either of these two leaders will eventually become chief minister and security, as per the protocol will be allocated to them.
