Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018: Congress legislators to meet today

After registering victory in Rajasthan the Congress has geared up for the its first legislative meeting on Wednesday. Newly elected MLAs will share opinions on the nomination of their leader, Chief minister in the said meeting with KC Venugopal, who has been appointed as observer by the AICC.

“There’s a meeting with all elected MLAs at the PCC office. Post to the meeting,Venugopal Ji and me will meet the MLAs personally. After it, high command will be told of all the MLAs opinion. We will convene another meeting in the meeting,” said Avinash Pandey, Rajasthan incharge and AICC general secretary, talking to the media persons.

When asked about candidature of Pilot and Gehlot for the top office, CM, Pandey did make plain reply “Along with taking opinions of newly elected MLAs the discussion will be made with senior party leaders and workers on the election of the leader. Soon the decision on the election (of CM) will be taken by the party high command. It is one of the issues to be discussed,” said he.

In the scheduled meeting at 11 am on Wednesday the observer will seek opinions of the party MLAs. Their ‘votes’ would be recorded by the party observer and sent to the party president Rahul Gandhi for nod. According to the sources the party state leadership has instructed its MLAs to rush to the Jaipur on Tuesday evening after collecting certificates on their elections from the respective constituencies by the returning officers.

A high level meeting convened at the PCC headquarters was attended by Gehlot, Pandey, Venugopal and Pilot along with senior leaders.
