Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018: Congress’ first list to be released today

The sources said that the first list that would be followed by one or two list that would be released between November 15-18.

A central election committee (CEC) meeting headed by party president Rahul Gandhi deliberated on candidature for more than 120 seats but remained inconclusive because of objections raised by few leaders from the state on certain seats. Now, the list is expected to be released on Tuesday after slight modification.

According to the sources, the meeting attended by AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot, PCC chief Sachin Pilot, Leader of Opposition Rameshwar Dudi, Screening committee chairperson Kumari Selja, Rajasthan in-charge Avinash Pandey along with members of CEC discussed candidates for over 120 seats.

Although there was consensus among the leaders on maximum seats, there were objections on few seats which Dudi raised in the meeting, said sources. It is expected that with slight modification the list will be released on Tuesday. Selja and Pandey, who attended the meeting, confirmed on release of first list on Tuesday while talking to the scribes in New Delhi.

The sources said that the first list that would be followed by one or two list that would be released between November 15-18. The three members screening committee panel headed by Selja has prepared panels for the candidates.

Most of the panels has single name, of which maximum are 25 sitting MLAs and senior leaders including former ministers and union ministers. 

The panel has taken feedback from Gehlot, Dudi, Pilot, Pandey and four state-coincharges Vivek Bansal, Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin, Devendra Kumar and Tarun Kumar before drafting the list.
