After Marwar, now Congress chief Rahul Gandhi is set to go on extensive campaigning in Mewar, a region comprising 28 assembly seats. Gandhi is likely to hold rallies on December 1 in Udaipur, Chittorgarh and Bhilwara, a dominant areas of tribals who shifted their loyalties in the 2013 assembly election and voted for the BJP.

Mewar or the Udaipur division has 28 assembly seats spread over six districts namely - Udaipur, Banswara, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand and Chittorgarh. Of these 20 seats are reserved for ST (schedule tribe) and one is for SC (schedule caste) candidate. It’s a common political belief that the party winning the Mewar region forms the government in Rajasthan. In the September, Rahul  visited Sagwara (Dungarpur) and addressed a massive rally.

His visit is seen at attempt to bring back Congress’ traditional tribal voters. On Tuesday, BJP had brought its President Amit Shah to conduct a road show in Udaipur. Now, the Congress is set to bring its party chief Rahul Gandhi on December 1.
