While various voting awareness programmes are being conducted across the state, Barmer accomplished a new feat. In order to ensure maximum participation of the voters, the Barmer District Administration has made a national record by creating larger-than-life board game of snakes and ladders, among various other activities going on in the state to sensitise people of their voting rights.

Till now, the Limca Book of Records of the country’s largest snakes and ladders was named after IEC Consultant Ashok Singh Rajpurohit of WSSO unit of Public Health Engineering Department and it is of 900 square feet. The record was broken after the largest snakes and ladders of the country was created during the voting awareness programme where a 1600 square feet large board of the game was created on behalf of the Barmer District Administration by the same man.

According to record holder Rajpurohit, creating a new record by breaking his own national record is no less than a moment of pride. District Election Officer Shiv Prasad Madan Nakate appreciated this unique campaign of voting awareness through the game. Shiv Prasad said that the message of public awareness can easily be executed by bringing in such innovations.

For the first time in the state, a national record was created during a voting awareness programme. Moreover, this is the first national record in voter awareness in Rajasthan which has been registered in the name of Barmer Election Department.
