Rajasthan: Agriculture top agenda in NITI Aayog meet to be held today

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje who has been camping in New Delhi for last 4 days will be participating in the fourth governing council of NITI Aayog on Sunday. Chief secretary DB Gupta reached New Delhi on Saturday and met the chief minister over various points of the state, related to the meeting on Sunday.

Sources informed that state will be giving a proposal on a better scheme for drinking water and for increasing the income of the farmers. Sources informed that issues related to agriculture are on the top priority in the list of the meeting in which all the chief ministers of various states will be participating.

Stress will be on adoption of e-marketing (e-Nam) by states for marketing of agriculture produce. Centre has aimed at doubling the farmers’ income by 2020 and for this, reforms are needed in the agriculture sector. Sources informed that one of the agenda to be talked about will be the celebration of 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The meeting is also expected to discuss issues related to the nutrition of children under the phase II of  POSHAN Abhiyan which was launched nationally from Jhunjhunu in March this year. There would also be a discussion on Aspirational districts plan of the state which had been initiated by NITI Ayog. Five districts of the state, Jaisalmer, Baran, Dholpur, Karauli, and Sirohi are part of 115 districts chosen under this program.

The progress of flagship schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and Mission Indradhanush apart from the other programs of Niti Ayog will also be discussed at the day-long meeting which will be held at Rashtrapati Bhawan.

During the third meeting of the governing council, which was held in April last year, Prime minister Narendra Modi in his closing remarks had urged Union, State & Local Governments and all organisations to decide goals for 2022.
