The low-floor buses which are regularly seen overloaded with passengers may soon face action from the traffic police. Sources informed that traffic police has issued a direction to its cops to take action against the overloaded buses, as per the rules. This has happened after a complaint by a person was filed at the government helpline in which it was informed that overloaded low-floor buses get broken down on the road and causes jam. After this, the order from senior officials of traffic police was issued few weeks back.

Senior officials of traffic police, however, informed that the action is being taken on a regular basis against overloading and in previous months too, action has been taken. The overloading and breaking down of these low-floor buses is seen very frequently on city roads.

In the month of May too, traffic police had taken action against the overloaded low-floor buses. That time, traffic police had fined more than 70-75 buses in two days for overloading. The drivers had to give the fines from their own pocket that time.

For about a month, the low floor buses were off the road due to strike, however, coming once again on road on October 16, the buses started jamming the roads because of breaking down. Buses getting stranded on road after being broken down is a common sight on Tonk Road and on road near Jawahar Circle on JLN Marg.

Moreover, since the length of these buses is more, they take more time to come on the roadside after taking passengers from the bus stop, which in meantime causes jam on the road. Earlier, the JCTSL had started 30 minibuses at the start of 2018, with the idea of removing traffic jam caused due to these long low-floor buses in Walled City, now more such buses are needed in other parts of the city.
