Threatening for mass leave if 7 points demands are not met, the Union employees leaders took out a rally with thousands of employees under the banner of Akhil Rajasthan Rajya Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti in Jaipur on Sunday. As it was Sunday, a holiday falling in wedding season, thousands of employees came to attend the rally from most of the districts of the state. The traffic was halted between Ram Niwas Garden and Civil Lines Phatak several times when the rally passed.
“The government has to meet all 7 demands, or else we will go on strike. The employees will be on mass leave on December 8, a fast to be held for 48 hours from December 9 and pen down strike on December 12. When the government will be celebrating its fourth anniversary on December 12 the Samiti will protest at district headquarters. We will discuss and take a call on an indefinite strike if the government keeps ignoring our demands,” said Gajendra Singh Rathore, co-coordinator of the Samiti.
A wide range of differences among the leaders was quite visible when they were taking on the government for their respective demands in the rally. Several leaders from various employees organisations dared to see the government in next assembly election while few were in a state of Wait and Watch policy.
Tej Singh Rathore, who is general secretary of Akhil Rajasthan Rajya Karmchari Sanyukt Mahasangh and holds the post of the member in the Samiti on agitation, severely attacked the government for its pessimistic approach towards the demands.
“We will go definitely on mass strike as the government did not agree to our demands. The government is also taking action against the employees who are protesting democratically. We will fight for our rights,” told Tej Singh to the DNA.
Many speakers addressed the rally also termed the state government announcement on arrears from January 2017 just an appeasement act as the fire of protest spread across the state. The Raje government on Sunday, a day before Akrosh Rally, made an announcement to give cash benefits, arrears, of 7th pay from January 2017 and give the amount of arrears in three installments- April, July and October. It gave the notional benefit of 7th pay from January 2016.
