Raj Darbar to be recreated on Gaj Singh’s birthday

The 71st birthday of erstwhile ruler of Jodhpur, Gaj Singh, will be celebrated on January 8, as per the Hindu calendar at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, with royal pomp and splendour. 

A Raj Darbar (royal court) will be recreated on this occasion which will be attended by former royals from Rajasthan and other states. 

Jagatsingh Rathor, the personal secretary of Gaj Singh said that the main event of birthday celebrations will be held at Rathore Darbar Hall at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. 

At the ceremony, first of all ‘tilak aarti’ of Gaj Singh will be performed  by rajpurohits and raj pandits according to the traditions and after that the nazar nicchawar will start. 

First of all, Gaj Singh’s son Shivaraj Singh and other guests will offer nazar. Prior to this ceremony, Gaj Singh will be offering prayers at Maa Chamunda temple located at the Mehrangarh Fort. He will also offer prayers at Mahal Mandir of Baadi, and Kuldevi Maa Nagnechiya and will offer wreaths on the monuments of his ancestors at Jaswant Thada. 

Upon arrival at Umaid Bhawan Palace from Mehrangarh, Shivranjani Raje, his daughter will greet Gaj Singh with a traditional aarti at the gates of Umaid Bhawan. 

After that the members of the former royal family will offer nazar and greet him on his birthday. Meeting arrangements in Rathore Durbar Hall will be held in accordance to ancient traditions. 

The members of the royal families will be dressed in traditional attire, bearing swords of gold and silver and donning the traditional colourful safas on the occasion.

The Event

Main birthday celebrations will be held at Rathore Darbar Hall at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.  First of all ‘tilak aarti’ of Gaj Singh will be performed  by rajpurohits and raj pandits according to the traditions and then nazar nicchawar will start.
