Rahul Gandhi to set tone for LS polls at AICC

Sources informed that party will introduce two resolutions on Saturday and two on Sunday, last day of the session which will be concluded with Gandhi’s closing statement.

The three-day All India Congress Committee (AICC) plenary session began on Friday with the steering committee passing resolutions at the constitution. On Saturday when party president Rahul Gandhi will give inaugural speech at the Indira Gandhi indoor stadium, he is expected to set tone for Lok Sabha election 2019 and upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madya Pradesh and Chattisgarh while mentioning party’s victory in recent byelections in Rajasthan.  

Sources informed that party will introduce two resolutions on Saturday and two on Sunday, last day of the session which will be concluded with Gandhi’s closing statement. The plenary session is taking place in the backdrop of recent byelections in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar where BJP received a big jolt with a tally of zero while in Rajasthan by-elections Congress wrested two parliamentary and one assembly seats from the ruling saffron party. 

Sources informed that byelections in Rajasthan in which party won all three seats - Ajmer, Alwar and Mandalgarh, - will certainly be discussed in the session. Also, strategy for upcoming Rajasthan assembly election slated in the final quarter of the year will be discussed. Gandhi had patted state Congress for win in the elections which were termed semifinal of Rajasthan assembly election. Congress recently also won majority of seats in local bodies election. 

Meanwhile, former chief minster Ashok Gehlot via video message shared on his twitter handle, that Gandhi at the plenary session would convey to the workers who are toiling for the party on ground. He contended that the session, which is first after Gandhi took the reign of the party, shall convey a message to the workers. “Congress carries a legacy in the country, whatever resolutions are passed in the session the party president Rahul Gandhi ji will convey a message to the workers to serve the nation and face the challenges. I  am sure that we will be successful,” said Gehlot. 

By Poll Backdrop 

The plenary session is taking place in the backdrop of recent by elections in UP and Bihar where BJP received a big jolt with a tally of zero while in Raj by polls Congress wrested two parliamentary and one assembly seat from ruling saffron party.
