The Congress president Rahul Gandhi is all set to foray into chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s backyard. During his two-day visit starting from October 9, he will extensively cover eastern and western Rajasthan. This will be his second visit in a span of 20 days in the poll bound state. On the first day, Rahul will cover a stretch of 150-200 km that will involve roadshows in three districts of eastern Rajasthan- Dholpur, Bharatpur and Dausa. It will be the party president’s first visit in the region after almost two decades almost, said the party sources.

“Gandhi will take out a massive roadshow, similar to the one in Jaipur on August 7. Workers will greet him en-route the show road which would end at public meeting venue. After doing a night stay in Dholpur the party president will head to Jaipur on October 10 morning,” said a party functionary.

In Jaipur, he will be meeting corporates and businessmen and will also address a gathering of the Youth Congress. Rahul will leave for Bikaner in afternoon where he would address a rally.

The preparations for Bikaner rally is in full swing and the senior party leaders are expecting a gathering of 5 lakh people. Leader of Opposition Rameshwar Dudi is already camping in his home district and mobilising workers and leaders to ensure the event is a historical one.

It was on Thursday that BJP national president was in Bikaner and on Saturday prime minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Ajmer.

According to the sources, the party has crafted Gandhi’s rallies in a manner that it touches upon each division. It started with Jaipur division in August where he took a massive road show followed by a rally on September 20 that touched upon Sagwara and Dungarpur (a tribal area of Udaipur division). Now it is in Bikaner division and Bharatpur division combined. He would be holding a roadshow in Dholpur as well, which is the home turf of chief minister Vasundhara Raje.

“In Bikaner the party has set a target of a gathering of 5 lakh. Rahul will also conduct a 8 km-long roadshow before arriving to the rally venue,” said a party functionary informing about the rally.
