BJP state president Madan Lal Saini and Panchayati Raj and Rural Development minister Rajendra Rathore dismissed Congress president Rahul’s public meeting as a vanilla event that failed to attract public response. The BJP leaders said that a bigger crowd came at welcome points of CM Vasundhara Raje’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra. “The Congress had accepted its defeat the very moment when they selected Ramlila Maidan for Rahul Gandhi’s meeting as it has a capacity to accomodate only 7-8 thousand people, said Rathore.

Saini rubbished the allegations made by Rahul Gandhi that the Rajasthan government was a non-performer under Vasundhara Raje and lacked in development behind other states. “The performance of the BJP government in Rajasthan under the leadership of chief minister Vasundhara Raje has been the best among other states,” Saini said. He claimed the Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra being carried out by the chief minister was a testimony of the work done during the government’s tenure. Both Sachin Pilot, the PCC, and the AICC general secretary, Ashok Gehlot had  expressed their disenchantment with the ruling party.

Saini also refuted the allegations levelled by Gandhi on the deal with French government for procurement of Rafale fighter jets. “The Congress is trying to mislead the people on Rafale deal as it doesn’t have any issue to raise against Modi government,” he said.
