Arrangements for Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s road show in Jaipur kept the state Congress leadership occupied throughout Friday. State party president Sachin Pilot reviewed the route twice first with party leaders from Jaipur district and later with national general secretary Ashok Gehlot and former state president CP Joshi in the evening. Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Jaipur at 1.30 pm on Saturday at Jaipur Airport.

Meanwhile, Joshi arrived in Jaipur on Friday afternoon while Gehlot arrived in the evening and they then joined Pilot near Khasa Kothi and the trio reached the public meeting venue at Ramleela Maidan after visiting the proposed road show route at Tonk Road.

Rahul’s road show is set to officially launch the Congress campaign for Assembly elections in Rajasthan scheduled later this year. The party leaders are ensuring to make the show a grand one. They are already at loggerheads with the BJP government in the state and district administration over the event.

“The BJP has been misusing government machinery to disrupt the road show, they have been pulling down the hoardings and flags put up to welcome our national president and such a behaviour is unacceptable,” said Congress district president Pratap Singh Khachariyawas.

What They Said

BJP leaders taunted the Congress over the choice of ground for Rahul’s meeting. But Congress said Rahul will hold direct discussions with local delegates during his address at Ramleela Maidan. The gathering is a select one and is not a show of strength.
