Nearly 250 employees of the municipal corporation have been deployed to scrutinise of application forms of sanitation staff recruitment. This may affect the city’s sanitation and other public related works in the coming days.
Last month, the state government had invited applications for sanitation staff recruitment at the JMC. More than 20,000 applications have been received so far. There are about 2,300 applications pending of the year 2012 recruitment of sanitation staff. With so many applications coming, the trouble has arisen for the municipal corporation. The JMC has deployed around 250 employees and officials for the scrutiny of applications.
By the end of the month, the monsoon is likely to hit the city. During the monsoon, flood relief control rooms are set up in all eight zone offices. The flood relief work can be affected due to this.
Similarly, the revenue officers of the zone offices have also been engaged in this work. As a result, the revenue collection will also be affected. If the staff of the zone offices remain busy in the scrutiny of applications, then public work will suffer. The municipal civil contractor is on strike for the last 15 days. In such a situation, the ruling BJP may face public displeasure in the election year.
