President Ram Nath Kovind arrives in Jaipur, launches welfare schemes

He announced that under Swarozgar Yojana, youth of SC, ST, OBC & EBC class will be given loan of up to Rs 50k for self-employment

President Ram Nath Kovind on his first visit to Jaipur on Sunday launched three state government schemes and distributed cheques and certificates to the beneficiaries of the these schemes. 

The state government organised citizen felicitation ceremony, during which the President launched the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment’s Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Antyodaya of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Class Swarozgar Yojana, Sunder Singh Bhandari EBC Swarozgar Yojana and SC-ST, OBC, Sanitation  Workers, Divayang Loan Waiver  Scheme. 

He also distributed cheques for Rs 50,000 to the beneficiaries of self-employment scheme. Under Swarozgar Yojana, youth of SC, ST, OBC and EBC class will be given loan of up to Rs 50,000 for self-employment. During the felicitation ceremony, the President expressing his  attachment to the state began his speech in Rajasthani. Kovind said: “I have a deep connection with Rajasthan and visited it many times. 

He mentioned the names of great personalities of the state like Maharana Pratap, Rana Sanga, Durgadas Chauhan and others including Param Vir Chakra awardee Major Shaitan Singh and Kargil martyrs. Kovind said that Meera Bai and Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti presented a fine example of social harmony. 

The President said that when  Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Rashtrapati Bhawan in January he was served tea made of the olive plant which Netanyahu liked. The tea was made from the olive plant cultivated in Bikaner.

The President said that Rashtrapati Bhavan construction also has Rajasthan’s contribution. The stones of Makrana, Alwar and Jaisalmer were used in it.

PREZ PRAISES GOVERNMENT

The President appreciated Rajasthan government for launching the ‘Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Antyodaya Employment Scheme’ and the ‘Sunder Singh Bhandari EBC Self-Employment Scheme’, named after two illustrious public figures from Rajasthan. He said that the people of Rajasthan will benefit from these schemes.

GUARD OF HONOUR GIVEN TO THE PREZ

President Ram Nath Kovind reached Jaipur with his wife Savitri Kovind on Sunday on a two-day visit to the state. Governor Kalyan Singh and CM Vasundhara Raje welcomed the President by offering floral greetings at Jaipur Airport. The Ministers of State Government, Mayor Ashok Lahoti, Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra, Chief Secretary DB Gupta, Lt Gen Cherish Mathson of South Western Command, DGP O P Galhotra and other officers and public representatives were present on the occasion. The Rajput Regiment of the Army gave the Guard of Honour to the President. He reached Raj Bhavan from the airport.

MEET AND GREET 

The President met the dignitaries and representatives of different organisations in the Raj Bhavan. Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Kailash Meghwal and BJP’s National Joint Secretary (Organization) V Satish met the President. Two separate delegations also met the President under the leadership of Dr Pappu Ram Koli, President of Koli Hitakarni Mahasabha of Rajasthan and Nasimudden, President of All India Hakim Ajmal Khan Memorial Society of India. The other judges under the leadership of Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog met the President. A cultural evening was also organised in the Raj Bhawan on Sunday night.

STATE’S CONTRIBUTION TO RASHTRAPATI BHAVAN

A Jaipur column is located on the main gate of Rashtrapati Bhavan’s building, which reminds him of Rajasthan, the President said and invited the people present in the auditorium to pay a visit to see it. CM Vasundhara Raje while addressing the function gave information about various schemes of the state government. Raje said, “We have done the work of taking Rajasthan out of the category of Bimaru states in four and half a years.” Governor Kalyan Singh expressed his gratitude to the President for visitng Rajasthan. The function was also attended by Assembly Speaker Kailash Meghwal, Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria and Mayor Ashok Lahoti.
