Potholed B2 by-pass drives vehicles to accidents

Stretches of road on the B2 Bypass which connects Tonk Road with the new Sanganer Road is an open invitation to road accidents these days.

The road bearing heavy routine traffic is marred with streets which neither have road lights functioning nor have clean, levelled road. Significantly, a patch on this road which sees heavy traffic, particularly at night is bearing dangerous potholes.

Frequent instances of vehicles from Tonk Road coming in speed and bumping into these potholes results in injuries to the driver alongwith damage to the vehicle.

There have been instances in last few days when, on suddenly seeing the potholes, commuters moving in high speed tried to turn the vehicle by applying breaks abruptly.

The sudden act comes as a shock to the commuter coming from behind and there are strong chances of collision of the two vehicles.

“It is dangerous. My car got bumped into the pothole in day light as I didn’t know there was a pothole here,” said a car driver on his way to new Sanganer road speaking to DNA.

The non functional road lights on certain stretches of this road is adding to the agony of the commuters. Notably, there is heavy movement of trucks during night through this bypass. They move in a line on a certain speed. On seeing the potholes, they stop suddenly, causing other vehicles to hault abruptly, which again is an open invitation to accidents.

Apart from the one huge pothole on this road, there are many small ones too, adding to the misery.

One such big pothole near Mansarovar on this road was repaired few weeks back, which had been posing similar problems to the commuters.
