Supporters of Ashok Parnami, the outgoing BJP state president, have taken an about turn after he relinquished office with leaders saying that life is going on as usual.

These leaders and workers, who used to heap praises on Parnami, have taken no time to switch sides and eulogise the party’s general secretary Chandrashekhar soon after the former quit his post.

According to BJP leaders, the resignation of Parnami has had no effect on the functioning of the party organisation and every work is going on in a smooth fashion. However, Parnami’s resignation has not been accepted yet. Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Madan Lal Saini said that the party is not tied to any person or post and despite not having a state president, it is undertaking all its works.

Parnami had resigned from the post of state president on April 16 and BJP’s top leadership has not been able to decide on a new chief for Rajasthan BJP even after 12 days.

Now, it seems that the state chief’s name will be announced after the Karnataka assembly elections. In such a situation, the BJP here will work without the state president till May 15.

Saini added, “We are fully functional now. The action plan for the party’s October programme has already been chalked out and according to it various works are going on as per schedule,” said Saini.

Saini said that the Karnataka Assembly election is currently the party’s focus and national president Amit Shah has been busy there. He made it clear that the state president’s name will be announced soon after the Karnataka polls.

On the other hand, BJP’s state headquarters in-charge Mukesh Chelawat said that the BJP is a party of collective leadership. He added that all the party’s programmes have been decided and are being implemented successfully. “GS Chandrashekhar is monitoring the organisation’s programmes. He is regularly reviewing the programme and seeking periodic reports from the workers. Organisation work is not being hampered by the absence of a state president,” said Chelawat.

Leaders Speak

According to BJP leaders, the resignation of Parnami has had no effect on the functioning of the party organisation and every work is going on in a smooth fashion.
