The political situation in Jaipur Zila Parishad has become further complicated. A notice of no-confidence motion against the Zila Parishad Pramukh Mool Chand Meena have been given to the district collector, Jagroop Singh Yadav, on Tuesday.

Councillors led by deputy Zila Pramukh Mohanlal submitted the notice of no confidence motion.

“The development works have been stalled, councillors are unhappy and have submitted the no confidence motion,” said Mohan Lal Sharma, deputy zila pramukh.

He claimed that for bringing a no confidence motion signatures of 17 councillors were needed and claimed that more than 30 councilors have signed the letter of no confidence.

The matter now lies with the district collector office to whom the letter has been given by Sharma and others.

“I have been presented a no confidence motion notice led by Mohan Lal and other ward members. I will take action as per law in this regard,” said Jagroop Singh Yadav.

The political turmoil has been brewing since last few months.The meeting of zila parishad which was to take place on January 11 was postponed. This was second time in a few days’ time when the meeting has been postponed. Earlier, the meeting was called on January 7 but that time too it was postponed.

The trouble started when Zila Pramukh Meena who was in BJP switched to Congress in October last year and since than the board which comprises mainly of BJP has been upset. There are total 51 councillors and BJP has 27 councillors.

Now as per the process, if the collector is satisfied with the letter and the signatures are adequate for a no confidence motion then he may give a suitable date for voting.

On the decided date, there will be voting and if the motion is passed, then zila pramukh will be removed and election will be held to elect new zila pramukh.

The trouble started when Zila Pramukh Meena who was in BJP switched to Congress  in October last year and since than the board which comprises mainly of BJP has been upset. There are total 51 councillors and BJP has 27 councillors. Now as per the process, if the collector is satisfied with the letter and the signatures are adequate for a no confidence motion then he may give a suitable date for voting.
