In just a few weeks, Bhamashah Digital Parivar Yojana has received an exemplary response, breaking all records. More than 20 lakh people have become a part of this scheme by buying new smartphones.

Already, Rs 460 crore has been transferred in the Bhamashah accounts of residents as the first installment. Every day, lakhs of eligible families are performing their first digital transaction and not only getting the second installments transferred directly in their bank accounts but are becoming the part of “#HamSabDigital” campaign.

“If maybe not today, then, in a short while, people will realise that digital is tomorrow, digital is the future, and digital is what is going to make us free of all the encumbrances that we have suffered so far, said Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Meanwhile, the state government’s beneficiaries’ programmes and the Digital Scheme involving the distribution of mobile phones to the people have found themselves in the eye of a political storm.

The Opposition parties asked the full bench of the election commission to put a halt on these programmes, said chief election commissioner OP Rawat recently during his visit to Jaipur.

The political parties have shared their concern on the issue of beneficiaries programmes and Jio Bhamashah digital scheme and as and when the commission gets the details from the official machinery and there surfaces violation of any existing law or model code of conduct after poll dates are announced, Election Commission will take appropriate action, Rawat said while talking about EC’s stand on the complaints received.

The Opposition Congress has been raising the issue already in the state and has been claiming the scheme to be a misuse of government money despite people attending various camps to avail the mobile phone plans.

The scheme is said to give complete freedom to every family to buy any smartphone of any brand and avail the subsidy. People can choose the phones and internet connection from a brand and data provider of their choice.

Residents can purchase a smartphone and sign up for a preferred network operator of their choice, either at the Bhamashah Digital Parivaar camps hosted by the Zila Panchayats or also opt to do so from regular neighbourhood shops.
