The Congress has accused Jaipur district administration for forcing the party leaders into changing the route of party president Rahul Gandhi”s road show. Rahul will be in the city on August 11 to address a conference of Congress leaders and delegates in Ramlila Maidan.
Congress spokesperson Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said that after landing at the airport Rahul Gandhi will conduct a road show that will pass through JLN Marg and Tonk Road, before concluding at Ramlila Maidan. “The road show will take the route crossing from JLN Marg, Durgapura Pulia, Laxmi Mandir, Rambagh Circle, Ajmeri Gate and will end at Ramlila Maidan. Workers and leaders will greet him at several points enroute. However, the administration wants us to change the route and instead they want us to take the rally only through JLN Marg that is a less populated route, said Khachariyawas. He further added that the administration is being discriminatory.
“What the district administration is asking us to do is not justified. We want maximum number of party workers and general public to welcome Rahul. Ensuring security of the our party president is the responsibility of the administration,” Khachariyawas added.
He also alleged JMC for being discriminatory towards the party leaders. “Earlier PM Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah visited Jaipur and for them the administration made proper security arrangements. The roads were decorated with posters and banners to greet them greeting them. And now when Rahul ji is coming, the administration and JMC is not letting us do similar things. But, we will not tolerate this.”
The sources added that Rahul on the lines of Gujarat wants to begin election campaigning in the desert state on ‘Soft Hindutva’ line. He will visit Moti Dungri Temple followed by a series of visit to other temples in various regions across the state in August end.
