Rajasthan Public Service Commission, on Tuesday, declared the list of candidates selected for the post of Rajasthan Administration Services on the basis of exam conducted in 2016. The final result, however, will be declared after the decisions made by Rajasthan High Court on all pending writ petitions.

Candidates who successfully cleared written Examination of Rajasthan State & Subordinate Services Combined competitive (Main) Examination, 2016 were called for interview. The selected ones will now be appointed on the basis of merit in addition to the service preferences. Bhawani Singh from Pali has topped the merit list, followed by Sachin Yadav from Jaipur on the second position. Upendra Kumar Sharma from Jaipur has secured fifth position.

“I hope to get the position of Sub-Divisional Magistrate with this score and ranking. I have been preparing for the exam from past three years and studied for about five to six hours everyday for the preparation. I could manage this apart from my work as a second grade teacher in Sinli village. I mostly practised my writing style for the mains,” Singh explained.

As many as 3,03,661 candidates had appeared in the written examination last year. About 15,638 candidates had been selected for the interview after the written examination. It is to be noted that RAS Mains result was cancelled in August 2016 on the basis of the High Court order. The order came after a benefit of reservation was given to the candidates in preliminary examination, which, in the MAIN results was removed. The court, however, declared that the result is not appropriate as the benefit was given in prelims, and ordered to revise the entire result. RPSC, then, filed a petition to a single bench division in High Court, where the order was stayed. The case then went to the Supreme Court which was not processed as the case remained pending in High Court. The final result will be declared after the pending case is cleared.
