The Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday ordered the district administration to prepare scheduled plan for granting citizenship and extending visas of Pakistani Hindu immigrants.
The issue came up after Amici Curiae Kamal Joshi and Sajjan Singh Rathod pointed many errors in the action plan presented by the district administration before the court. The court, while asking the district administration to resubmit the scheduled plan, said the issue of Pakistani Hindu immigrants is not just connected to Jodhpur, but also entire Rajasthan where they have settled.
The bench of Justices Govind Mathur and Justice Vineet Kumar Mathur took cognizance of the CID deporting Pakistani Hindu immigrants and a PIL filed in this regard. During the hearing on behalf of the government, Additional Advocate General Kantilal Thakur presented the schedule on behalf of the district administration.
On this, Amici Curiae objected and said that as per the directive of the High Court, the administration organised the meeting but neither Hindu Singh Sodha nor Namesingh, who are working for Pak immigrants, and no Amici Curiae were present in the meeting. On this, the High Court ordered the district administration to reorganize the meeting and hold parleys with two nominated members and Amici Curiae have been ordered to prepare a schedule plan.
On the previous hearing the High Court passed an interim order saying that pending citizenship and visa extension applications of Pak Hindu immigrants should be disposed of in 45 days.
During the hearing on Tuesday, ADM City Seema Kaviya and CID SP Shweta Dhankad were also present on behalf of the district administration. Hindu Singh Sodha, president of Seemant Lok Sangathan, who is championing the cause of Pak Hindu immigrants, was also present.
