After the announcement of new excise policy, the department of excise has now started the process to allot liquor retail shops by lottery.  For this, the department will be accepting online applications and the process will start from February 9-26.

For Jaipur, for IMFL and beer the annual licence fees will be Rs 30 lakh which includes basic licence fees of Rs 22 lakh and minimum special vending fees of Rs 8 lakh. Lottery will held at district headquarters on March 5.

As such the rush at excise department office in Jaipur will be seen in coming days as the applicants will be depositing the challan and the demand draft at the respective district excise offices.

Every year, except the last year, which was an exception, a huge rush was seen on Janpath  road near Vitt Bhawan which houses  the department of  excise and near SMS stadium and Vidyut Bhawan as applicants park their vehicles on road and deposit the documents related to the payment of fees. It has been mentioned in the policy this time that one person will be allotted one shop only. This time, the shops will given by lottery for a year, earlier there was  a combined excise policy for financial year 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Bhang shops too will be given for this upcoming financial year 2019-20. The department of excise has invited applications for 30 bhang group shops across the state.

The applications for getting bhang shops will have to be submitted to the excise department by February 22.

The new excise policy was recently declared after a gap of two years. The last policy came in 2017-18 for two years for the first time. However this time, the government  has gone back to the previous practice of inviting the applications for every financial year. In the excise policy it has been informed that state government will be spending 0.1% of the excise revenue on steps to make the people aware about the harmful effects of liquor consumption.

The excise policy was being waited since the time Congress government had come to power.
