On right track: Humsafar Express flagged off

The passengers from Sawaimadhopur and Kota will also get the benefit of this train and they can also board it from these stations.

Weekly Humsafar Express between Jodhpur and Tambaram (Chennai) was flagged off on Monday. The train has been given a stoppage of 10 minutes in Jaipur and will be a additional train connecting Jaipur and Chennai. 

There are currently three trains between the two stations and with Humsafar Express, now there will be four trains running between the two places. Jaipur Chennai Superfast Express, Anuvrat Express and Bhagat ki Kothi Mannargudi Express are these trains which are already running. On a routine basis, the train will run from Jodhpur on every Wednesday from Bhagat Ki Kothi at 15:30 hours and will reach Jaipur at 21:30 hours. It will leave from Jaipur at 21:40 hours and will arrive Tambaram on Friday at 10:45 hours.

The passengers from Sawaimadhopur and Kota will also get the benefit of this train and they can also board it from these stations.

The popularity of the train which has not even begun its regular operation can be gauged from the fact that as soon as the railway officials made it public that Humsafar Express between Jodhpur and Tambaram will be started, people went about booking the tickets of the train from Friday itself. The last two days saw a long waiting list of the passengers willing to travel via the new train. Since the summer vacation of children have started and there are less number of trains on this particular long route, the train is witnessing a huge rush.

Apart from them, large number of businessmen dealing in granite and readymade garments regularly go to Chennai and will be making use of the train. The inaugural train on Monday was flagged off by minister of state for railways Rajen Gohain in presence of minister of state for agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who is is also a member of parliament from Jodhpur. Moreover, Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra flagged of the train in Jaipur.

Ministry of Railways had announced in Rail Budget 2016-17 introduction of new type of trains called Humsafar Express. Humsafar train is a fully Air Conditioned 3 AC service having facilities like GPS based Passenger Information System, Passenger announcement System, fire and smoke detection and suppression system, CCTVs, comfortable seats, mobile and laptop charging points, integrated Braille display among other things.
