Chief minister Vasundhara Raje assured the people on Saturday that she will continue the reservation policy in the state. She was speaking during the 127th anniversary celebrations of Dr BR Ambedkar.
“The policy that was started by Ambedkar during independence is still followed by the BJP. We will not end the reservation nor will we allow anyone else to end it,” Raje said.
“The SCs and STs have been exploited since Independence. However, only when election is near, they are remembered. People of the SC and ST communities have given a lot of affection to us,” Raje said.
Governor Kalyan Singh, who was the chief guest of the event, inaugurated the BR Ambedkar Foundation, and Girls and Boys hostel in Mundala. Raje further announced several schemes and initiatives for the people falling under the reserved category.
“Two hostels have been set up at the Centre for Excellence, in addition to a digital library, and provision for one more hostel has been made. About Rs 10 crore will be spent on development. Also, loan given to SCs and STs for setting up an industry under the Bhamashah scheme has been increased to Rs 10 lakh,” she said.
