Commuters using mobile app based cabs of Uber and Ola in city may face trouble on April 1. Cab drivers working for these companies have called in for a strike against the alleged problems they are facing with the app-based companies.

Cab drivers commuting in the city have pasted posters of the strike on their vehicles, informing about their call of strike on April 1 and have got together under the banner of “Rajasthan Vahan Chalak Sangathan.” The strike will be for 24-hours, claimed drivers. The drivers informed that they are facing trouble as the number of cabs is increasing. This is disturbing the demand and supply in the business and is making the drivers weak, said Yogesh Kuntal, President of the Union speaking to DNA.

Notably, there are 27,000 cabs in the city providing services to people through these app based companies. “There is no dedicated stand for these cabs, the fare policy is also very complex, and we are demanding that the commission of company should be 10 % apart from other demands,” said a driver associated with the Union.

In last few years these mobile app based cabs have become lifeline of the city as they facilitate travel for thousands of commuters every day. “Well , I hope they solve whatever issues they have with the companies because I depend on them solely for going to my college,” said Shashi Sharma a teacher. The drivers had gone on work boycott a year back also in 2017, demanding security after a driver was shot in Mansarovar area.
