Railway minister Suresh Prabhu doled out many gifts to Rajasthan during his one-day visit to the state. He not only flagged off two trains but also announced two new trains. The minister also laid the foundation and inaugurated half-a-dozen projects in the state.

Highly enthused by Prabhu’s announcements, chief minister Vasundhara Raje could not stop herself from asking him to come to Rajasthan more often as it would be beneficial for the state.

The minister inaugurated, laid foundation and unveiled different projects through remote and video conferencing during functions organised in Jaipur and Churu.

After reaching Jaipur on Tuesday morning, Prabhu flew in a helicopter to Churu where he flagged off broad gauge train between Sardarshahar-Ratangarh. On his return to Jaipur, he addressed an event on the start of various rail projects worth Rs367 crore at the Jaipur junction.

He also inaugurated and laid foundation of various projects as well as flagged off new trains through remote control and video conferencing. Events similar to Jaipur were also organised at Marwar Junction, Udaipur, Ajmer, Sikar and Rewari in Haryana.

Prabhu also said Modi government has allotted Rs3500 crore for rail development in Rajasthan which is 412 per cent more than the previous government. Rail track work on 4,025 kilometres in the state is under way, he added.

RAJE, PRABHU MEET

Suresh Pradbhu and Vasundhara Raje held a meeting at CMO on development of state’s rail infrastructure and betterment of rail services. Directions were issued for coordination meetings between transport department and rail ministry. CS OP Mina, ACS forest NC Goel, principal secy transport Shailendra Agarwal, and others were also present.

WHAT RAJ GOT

The Sikar-Fatehpur Shekhawati rail route was restarted after gauge upgradation work. The 47.50 kilometre track on this route was out of service for last four years for broad gauge conversion. Sikar-Delhi Sarai Rohilla (Tri-weekly) train was also started. This new rail service would benefit passengers in Nawalgarh, Jhunjhunu, Chirawa and areas nearby.
