While the citizens were welcoming the New years, the Jaipur police was busy in managing the traffic situation in the city while also acting hard against traffic violators. Shockingly the city police has set a new record for most challans in a day in violation of various traffic rules. Although the cops were vigilant across the city, yet in certain areas accidents occurred wherein nearly ten dozen people got injured.

On the last day of 2017, the Jaipur Traffic police issued five thousand two hundred challans which is a new record set by the cops beating the former record by a huge margin. The police had set its target on drunken driving violations of which a whopping one hundred eighty-six incidences came to light due to the vigilance of the police.

“We had set our eyes on drunken driving and also on people travelling on bikes. Majority of the 5200 challans are against those who were travelling without a helmet or were over speeding. One hundred eighty-four men were detained for drunken driving and strict action is being taken. There have been a huge number of no Parking violations also. The cranes kept towing vehicles from No-Parking zones which helped to a great degree in smooth traffic operations in the city,” said Lovely Katiyar, DCP Traffic, adding further, “The meeting with cab company representatives also gave good results as after consuming alcohol, people were observed taking cabs instead of driving their own vehicles. In the past seven days, more than one thousand people were challaned for drunken driving.”

Meanwhile, even after the cops being on the lookout, a whopping one hundred eleven people got injured in various incidents including late night accidents. By late evening thirty-eight of these injured, were slated serious by doctors.
