Now, Sports Authority of India to operate Chitrakoot Stadium

Chitrakoot Stadium at Vaishali Nagar became the second stadium of Jaipur to come under operations by Sports Authority of India (SAI). The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding with the SAI, hours before the model code of conduct came into force in state. “As per the understanding, the sports authority will provide training to aspiring sportsmen, providing an opportunity for promotion of sports in the state,” said a JDA official after signing of MoU. 

According to the MoU, the buildings, playground and other facilities owned by the JDA will be placed at disposal of the sports authority for minimum 30 years for implementation of its sports promotional schemes at the Chitrakoot stadium. 

There are 4 basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, 2 handball courts, a mud track of 400 meters, a football field inside the racing track, 4 lawn tennis outdoor courts and a badminton hall and other facilities at the stadium that will be now operated by the sports authority. A committee has also been formed under the chairmanship of JDA, commissioner for monitoring and management of the stadium in accordance with the understanding. 

The SAI is a society under the union government’s ministry of youth affairs and sports. Interestingly, the Jaipur rural MP, Olympic medalist shooter, Rajyavardhan Rathore is minister of the department and both the stadiums of Jaipur, the Vidhyadhar Nagar stadium and Chitrakoot Stadium are located in the parliamentary constituency of Jaipur rural. 

It had been for over a year that the SAI and JDA had been contemplating on possibilities of the MoU, however, the process has remain delayed for several reasons. The understanding was signed by SAI regional director Gandhinagar Gujarat and secretary of JDA on Saturday. 

A further delay could have the process delayed indefinitely following as later in the day model code of conduct came in implementation at state following the declaration of assembly election calendar by election commission of India.

Completed in a period of nearly 6 months, cloud enabled Bhamashah state data center was launched by chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Saturday. The independent information infrastructure facility is spread on 25000 square feet of area on 8 floors of the building at Jhalana industrial area of Jaipur is being claimed by the state government as largest data center of India. “The data center will be India’s biggest and most advanced government owned, operated, controlled and managed data center. Not only it is the largest, but also the most secure data center in the country,” said an official.
