Industry department of Rajasthan has decided to discontinue an industrial zone dedicated to the Koreans at Ghilot in Neemrana.
The MoU was signed between the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and South Korean Trade Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in 2013 but till date no Korean company has set up their unit in this zone. State industries minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat told DNA that there is not a single unit in Korean Zone so now we decided to discontinue it. He said it is not necessary to make a zone for investment.
Rajasthan was the first and the only state to host two country specific exclusive manufacturing zones. The state already hosts a Japanese Manufacturing Zone at Neemrana, which was established in 2008. More than 40 Japanese companies are running their units but no Korean company has set up unit.
A Korean delegate with acting ambassador Lee Hey Wang came to Jaipur and discussed with State industries minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat. This delegation saw interest in investment in Rajasthan. Minister Shekhawat told Koreans that if they come with specific proposal, state government will provide facilities.
Shekhawat also assured Koreans that if they come with huge investment, we can give customised package according RIPS. Shekhawat said that Rajasthan is a natural comfort zone with regards to global investment. We will welcome Korean companies if they come with proposal but we can’t continue Korean Zone in Giloth because we can’t reserve land for such long time.
