Ticket seekers who are planning to use their clout in the party and do not belong to the state or constituency shall not be given a chance to contest the upcoming polls in Rajasthan. In a strong message to the party rank and file, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said he would not tolerate any “parachute landing” at the time of candidate selection in the state. “Not a single candidate shall make parachute landing in Rajasthan assembly election,” Rahul Gandhi, who was on a daylong visit to Jaipur on Saturday told a packed Ramlila Maidan.

His assurance ensures rewards to those who toiled for party over the last four-and-half-years while in the Opposition. “After elections, it will be a government of workers. It happens sometimes that candidates landing by parachute (outsiders) take away ticket of probable MLAs. I will not allow a single parachute landing. I will cut the cord of the parachute and he will fall from a height of 20,000 feet,” said Gandhi. “Only the one who is voice of the workers will get tickets,” said Gandhi.

Gandhi further expressed confidence in forming a government in Rajasthan along with Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh all of which will be going to polls later this year. “There is good response to the party in Rajasthan, MP and Chhattisgarh. We will win assembly election and take the next step towards winning the Lok Sabha election 2019,” Gandhi said motivating delegates to work together to root out BJP governments in states and New Delhi.

RPCC chief, Sachin Pilot, AICC general secretary, Ashok Gehlot, in their speech trained their guns on chief minister Vasundhara Raje. They stressed that the party in Rajasthan is united and ready to form government in upcoming election as all sections of the society have made their minds to vote out the saffron party.

“In the way Raje ruled over the last four years, she just punished all sections of the society. Her vessel of sins has overflowed. She is taking out 'Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra' while the funeral procession of farmers who have committed suicide are being taken out. We will form the government under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. I have the support of all leaders,” said Pilot.

Gehlot lambasted BJP for insinuating there is a divide in the Congress. “The rumours continue as BJP has nothing to do. Whatever is published in news papers none should pay heed to it. Raje preaches us, but everyone knows her history. She did not allow Gulab Chand Kataria to take out his Yatra and she also threatened to split party when she was not considered to be BJP state president. The congress workers are united and shall help make Congress government.”

To quell the rumours, both Pilot and Gehlot hugged each on the state with Rahul applauding both the leaders.
