At a time when security arrangements are being strengthened at every railway station and airport, the Gandhi Nagar railway station has none. While Jaipur junction has two metal detectors and two baggage X-ray scanners installed at both the entry gates, the Gandhi Nagar station has no metal detectors at entry points and passengers can be seen entering the station with their luggage without any problem. Also, there is no X-ray scanner to check the luggage.

The station caters to more than 7,000 passengers every day and about 50 trains pass through this station. 25 trains have stoppage at this railway station.

While your baggage gets checked at the baggage scanner and you pass through metal detector at Jaipur junction, you can safely skip this procedure and board the train from Gandhi Nagar station if you plan to go to Delhi.

The travel distance between Jaipur Junction and Gandhi Nagar station is merely 8 minutes and person who wants to create any mischief can instead go to Gandhi Nagar station and board the train with his bag without being frisked.

Though like other stations, RPF personnel are already posted at the station, in absence of scanning of baggage the task may become difficult for them to find out the suspect though the station is now equipped with CCTV cameras.

“All stations are being equipped with such things in phased manner, we are providing CCTV camera and idea is to percolate it to all the stations so that everything is under an electronic eye. We have already done at Gandhi Nagar and we are focusing over one lakh stations,” said Tarun Jain, chief public relation officer of NWR.
