All eyes of PHED officials in Jaipur are on the water level in the Bisalpur Dam. The officials are caught in a confusion about the future planning of water supply in the city in case the water level of the dam doesn’t increase. A few days back, the department had already cut down the water supply the city was receiving from 547mld to 520 mld.

Officials informed that during the summer days, 547 mld water was being given. One of the alternatives which is being given thought is to provide water on an alternative day basis to various colonies. Few colonies may get water one-one day and another half may get on another day.

The department is also considering other options like opening up more tube wells for the supply of water in the city while the tubewells which have become defunct they may also be repaired and opened up soon.

However, since in most of the areas of the city the water level is down and under the dark zone, the places where the water level is high will be chosen for digging new tubewells, informed the sources. Sources also informed that detailed plan has been submitted to senior officials of PHED.

The city circle officials are currently not saying anything concrete on this and inform that the plan has been submitted and the decision will be taken in coming days. The current level of Bisalpur Dam is about 309 RL meter and is the main source of drinking water for Jaipur, Ajmer, and Tonk.
