The proposed auction of Rajasthan Roadways land on Wednesday turned out to be a flop show as no bidder turned up for the auction process. The officials waited for one hour for the bidders, after which the process was declared “no bid”, by JDA officials.

Awaiting the bidders, the officials spent an hour chit chatting over the current financial situation of roadways.

The rate prevailing in the market of this area was discussed informally and the location of land being near the railway line was also a subject of discussion.

The JDA officials pointed out that while no bidders had turned out for this auction, they had seen auction process for lands years back, when the crowd was so huge that extra chairs had to be put.

On Wednesday, however for this auction process there were empty chairs in the auction room of JDA waiting for the bidders.

Notably, Jaipur development Authority (JDA) had organised the auction of 5,000 square metre of land at Chomu House Parivahan Marg from 2:30 pm.

The officials of roadways led by Superintendent engineer (civil) had come on exact time for the auction. The committee of JDA responsible for carrying out the auction was also present during the entire duration.

Sources informed that current market condition of land prices is not being said to favour a high rate for the roadways land while the statements of transport minster Yunus khan, initially terming roadways as pride of Rajasthan and denying selling any property was also a dampner. Two more auctions on December 13 and 20 for other parts of the land are on cards.

The land comes in zone number 1 and is 5,000 square meter in area. Bearing the khasra number 151/443, the land is of commercial nature.

Notably, Roadways earns revenue of Rs 150 crores, while its administrative expenses are Rs 195 crores.

Since Rajasthan Roadways has been running losses, the auction plan was made to clear the liabilities of the roadways which are running into crores. However, the employees of roadways have already been opposing this move.
